Apologies and festiveness!

13 Dec

So, yeah. I’m a terrible blogger. Due to computer crashes, retail craziness and trying to get all my handmade Christmas presents done, I haven’t posted in a really long time. Sorry.

However, as the holiday season is now in full swing, I’m sharing with you my top five holiday movies, guaranteed to warm the heart of even the Grinchiest Scrooge.

1. A Muppet Christmas Carol

Muppets and Michael Caine?! I rest my case.

2. Christmas Vacation

My family used to have a running contest to see how many times we could watch this between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think we topped out at 11.

3. A Christmas Story

Celebrating not only Christmas, but all the wonderful, horrible, awkward things about being a kid in December. Also featuring the most terrifying Santa Claus in history.

4. Elf

Before Jon Favreau helmed the Iron Man franchise, he made a little movie about a big elf. Besides being insanely quotable (“Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite color?”), the film boasts appearances from Amy Sedaris and Peter Dinklage.

5. The Hebrew Hammer

Who will stop Andy Dick from taking down Hanukkah with bootleg copies of “It’s a Wonderful Life”?

Shabat shalom, mama.

6. *BONUS* A Very Sunny Christmas Special

Not actually a Christmas movie per say, but it makes the list for teaching us the therapeutic value of throwing rocks at trains after realizing your parents provided your gifts through breaking and entering, and that your mother was fucking a succession of Santas.

Oh, and Fred Savage, like Wonder Years Fred Savage, directs.

I think you should have a category titled: “Apologies for my Absence”

    I really should. Shit.
